Return of old electrical appliances

General information on disposal
Electrical and electronic appliances are labelled with the crossed-out wheeled bin symbol.

The symbol indicates that electrical and electronic equipment must not be disposed of with normal household waste, but must be taken to a separate waste collection centre. This is because the materials contained in old electrical appliances can and should be reused. In addition, used batteries and accumulators that are not enclosed in the old appliance, as well as lamps that can be removed from the old appliance without causing damage, must be separated without causing damage before being handed in. Information on the correct disposal of used batteries, accumulators and lamps can be found further down on this page.

Please note that you are responsible for deleting all personal data on your old appliance.

Our WEEE registration number is DE 35581348.

Information on the return of electrical and electronic equipment

We are obliged to take back electrical and electronic equipment free of charge in accordance with Section 17 (1) and (2) of the German Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act. However, you can also return your waste electrical and electronic equipment free of charge to one of the municipal collection points (so-called recycling centres) in your area.
On request, when you purchase a new electrical or electronic appliance, we will take back an old electrical appliance with at least one of its external dimensions exceeding 50 centimetres (large appliance) free of charge at the place where the new appliance is delivered (e.g. your private household) or by parcel post, provided that one of the appliances listed above is the same type of appliance and essentially fulfils the same functions as the new appliance.
You can return small appliances, lamps, small IT and telecommunications devices where none of the external dimensions exceed 50 centimetres, as well as devices where none of the external dimensions exceed 25 centimetres, to us free of charge when purchasing a comparable new appliance.
Irrespective of the purchase of a new electrical appliance, you can return up to three old appliances that are not larger than 25 cm in any dimension to us free of charge.
To receive a shipping label, please contact our customer service team in advance at service@remember.de. Please pack the old appliance securely for transport. Use a sturdy parcel for this and ensure that the contents cannot move freely. If necessary, filling material (such as old newspapers) should be added. Please also note the shipping conditions of our transport service provider.

Disposal of used batteries and accumulators
The following symbol with the crossed-out dustbin on batteries and accumulators indicates that they must not be disposed of with household waste, but must be collected separately.

Under this symbol you will also find the chemical symbol of the pollutant with the following meaning: Pb:
  • Battery contains lead
  • Cd: Battery contains cadmium
  • Hg: Battery contains mercury
You are legally obliged to return used batteries and rechargeable batteries. Used batteries may contain harmful substances that can damage the environment or your health if they are not stored or disposed of properly. However, batteries also contain important raw materials such as iron, zinc, manganese or nickel and can be recycled.
After use, you can return the batteries free of charge either to our dispatch warehouse (KF Design GmbH, Nauenweg 36, 4805, Krefeld) or to places in your immediate vicinity (e.g. retail outlets or municipal collection centres).

Disposal of old lamps
Old lamps must be disposed of separately.

You can simply hand in your old lamps at one of thousands of Lightcycle collection points. This will help to conserve important resources, as up to 90 per cent of the components of old lamps can be recycled.
